What is Sidereal Astrology?

Sidereal astrology is an ancient zodiacal system based on the position of the stars. Its zodiacal positions are fixed and are more accurate than traditional western astrology. Western astrology is based on the Sun and its position when the spring equinox occurs. This is always changing, due to the precession of the equinoxes. Astronomers today love to point out that the typical western horoscope if off and not true to the stars and constellations that they are supposed to be in.

Sidereal or Vedic astrology is derived from the ancient Vedic scriptures also called the Vedas. These are texts going back to 1,500 BC. These master teachers took note of the complex cycle of the heavens. Along with this divine knowledge of the skies, they observed effects that the stars and planets had on a human individual. As above, so below.

What is the difference between Sidereal/Vedic astrology and Tropical/Western astrology?

Sidereal or Vedic astrology is about cycles and uniquely focuses on the Moon and its placement at the moment you were born. There is a depth of meaning within each individual birth chart because so much is considered. The Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturns' placements, as well as your ascendent degree make up the foundation of the chart. The signs and houses are placed according to your ascendant, (that being the first house). I also consider nakshatras and what Dasha you are in. All of this information sheds light on your lifes purpose, areas of strength in your life, areas of challenge, and is predictive based on cycles as to where your life is headed. This allows you to be prepared and make the most of what life presents to you. Rather than reacting to life, you can begin to anticipate and make choices that empower you now and into the future.

Tropical or Western astrology is about the Sun and its relationship to earth. The time of the spring or vernal equinox is important as the location of the Sun in the sky as viewed from the earth is where the zodiac begins. O degrees of Aries. Many people say that their western horoscope is accurate and feels right to them. Its' focus on the Sun makes it good at describing the human personality. Interestingly, since Mercury (the planet that represents the mind and emotions) is never far from the Sun, it is Mercurys' placement as shown in the Vedic chart that is ringing true!

The 7th house is one of the 12 houses in a birth chart, and it represents relationships, partnerships, and marriages. It is the 7th zodiacal sign from your ascendant. It's often referred to as the "house of others" or the "house of marriage."

What does the 7th House reveal about my relationships?

The planetary ruler of the 7th house is the planet that has a significant influence on your relationships. This planet can indicate your emotional needs, expectations, and attitudes towards relationships. For example, if Venus rules your 7th house, you will value harmony and beauty in your relationships.

What are Nakshatras? And how do they relate to my reading?

A nakshatra is like a zodiacal sign, but more delineated. They are divisions of 13 degrees 20 minutes from 0 Aries to 30 Pisces. The meanings are derived from the ancient Vedic Scriptures and they are one of the oldest references in the Vedas going back to 1,500 to 2,000 BCE. Also called lunar mansions, they influence the energy of a particular region of the birth chart. In the case of the Luminaries (Sun and Moon) and all the planets in Ultimate Natal Chart reading - the corresponding nakshatra can reveal a depth of meaning about the area of your life that it relates to in your individual chart.

How do you create a birth chart for someone?

In order to create an accurate birth chart, I will need your birth date, place and time! The exact time is very important, as the ascendant degree is always moving. The meaning of the ascendant as well as the placement of the Moon (which also moves quickly through the sky) is essential. I use special software that calculates everything going on in the heavens with great accuracy. Then I apply Vedic teachings and concepts to what the chart is showing.
